Dr. Ryan Jenkins is a DataEthics4All Top 100 DIET Champion 2021, a Member of the DataEthics4All Think Tank Community, an SME at the Ethics4NextGen AI Hackathon and an Associate Professor of Philosophy at California Polytechnic State University. He’s also a Co-Principal Investigator on NSF Award #1917712: Artificial Intelligence and Predictive Policing: An Ethical Analysis and taught a DataEthics4All Primer Bootcamp on AI Ethics and Predictive Policing. Ryan is a Senior Fellow at Ethics + Sciences Emerging Group at CalPoly, the Director of Ethics and Policy at WhiteFox Defense Technologies, Inc as well as a Senior Associate at Principia Advisory. Principia Advisory is the leading consultancy on organizational ethics and at WhiteFox Defense Technologies, Ryan works with senior leadership to craft ethically informed policy recommendations regarding UAS regulation, to be disseminated to top policymakers in NASA, FAA, Department of Defense, among others. Ryan examines the ethical and policy implications of technologies with the potential to profoundly impact human life, such as autonomous vehicles, artificial intelligence, and military technologies. As an Associate Professor of Philosophy at California Polytechnic State University, Ryan designs, develops, and serves as the instructor of record for philosophy classes including technology ethics and military ethics, for 270+ students per year. As a Senior Fellow at the Ethics + Emerging Sciences Group at Cal Poly, Ryan examines the ethical and policy implications of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, cyberwar, killer robots and autonomous vehicles.
