Preeti K. Bajwa is a trial attorney at the California Attorney General’s office, Correctional Law Section. Prior to joining the Attorney General’s office, Ms. Bajwa was a criminal defense attorney, at the Santa Clara Public Defender’s Office, then at Sacramento Public Defender’s Office. From 2009 – 2012, she ran her own law firm, representing indigent clients charged with federal and state crimes including healthcare fraud, tax evasion, homicide, assaults, weapons charges, drug charges, business law, and immigration law. Ms. Bajwa obtained significant understanding and insight into the issues that matter most to clients having tried 52 cases to jury verdict and handling criminal and civil cases in private practice and in the public interest sector. As a deputy attorney general in the Correctional Law Section, she is responsible for managing high-profile complex litigation cases, all involving allegations of civil rights violations and that address critical issues for state agencies, including the Governor’s office. In this capacity, she is versed in matters and policies that are important to law enforcement. Ms. Bajwa earned her JD/MBA from Loyola Marymount University, and her BA in Finance from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
