Mia Shah-Dand is a DataEthics4All Top 100 DIET Champion 2021, is the CEO of Lighthouse3, a research and advisory firm based in Oakland, California. Mia advises global organizations on responsible innovation at scale with new & emerging technologies including Artificial Intelligence (AI). Her strength is bringing together diverse groups of stakeholders to build human-centric programs at the intersection of emerging technology, data, and governance. She is also the founder of Women in AI Ethics™ initiative, which is dedicated to increasing recognition, representation, and empowerment of talented women in this space. Mia created the first 100 Brilliant Women in AI Ethics™ list in 2018, which is now published annually and built the Women in AI Ethics™ online directory, a resource to increase representation of women at AI conferences and in the tech industry. Mia is on the Board of Directors for United Nations Association of USA - San Francisco Chapter and on the inaugural Advisory Board for Carnegie Council’s Artificial Intelligence & Equality Initiative. She hosts monthly events and Twitter chats (@MiaD) to raise awareness about ethical issues in AI and highlight the work of BIPOC experts in this space.
